2018-2019
ITERATION 1 _ GSS 2018
“Metallic Spaces” is a 1:1 scale architectural prototype generated through robotically bent steel rods. It conforms to a translucent structure embedded with conductive sensors, responding to touch.
The structure therefore allows the user to interact, touching the structure, resulting in outputs of sound and light, ultimately redefines the physiognomy of open public spaces.
ITERATION 2 _ BB CONSTRUMAT 2019
“Robotic Bends” is Robotic Show that took place during the BB Construmat fair in Barcelona. In this demonstration designed specifically for the fair, a collaborative robotic setup produced a complex metallic rebar structure in real time, letting operators interact with the design and the constructive process.
ITERATION 3 - MAA 2019
“Metal Bend” is a physical and digital exploration of design processes, material optimization, and fabrication protocols, aiming to to build 1:1 scale architectural prototypes generated through robotically bent steel rods.
During the seminar students learned about the necessary technology to execute the project, while having the possibility to design and make their own assembly. Each group of students had a specific design / structural goal their prototype should adapt to (slab, wall, beam, column).
ITERATION 4 - GSS 2019
“Microfarming Polytunnel” is an infrastructure that supports scanning robots used in urban microfarming.
The 1:1 scale prototype is one of the edge arches supporting the beam of the overall structure. The design follows its structural needs, by splitting into two separate support points in each side, and shifting the middle arc curve away from the center, in order to distribute the loads efficiently.
The final prototype was assembled using an AI app, that projected the accurate position and twisting of each element.
